Letter To My Brotha’s

Letter to my Brotha’s

Despite what society has taught you and made you believe about your self, I am here to tell you different. , you are not  some violent, slow learning, thief, drug dealing, dumb, jail bird, uneducated, braid wearing, gang banging, rapping, sagging pants, unworthy, grew up in the hood and will never amount to anything, fatherless black thug who was born to a teenage mom.  I have watched too many black men close to me be mistreated and lead to believe they are not worthy to be apart of society. They have been labeled and put into the prison system where they can never prosper and become productive members in society.  I realize sometimes after you hear so much of something you start to believe it is true.  I watched my dad and uncles be  strong, hard working,  men take society head on with  class and no complaints. They are role models and true Kings in my eyes. I want you all to know you are intelligent, strong, powerful, hardworking, powerful Brotha’s who can accomplish anything you set your mind on! You have no limits, you can be anything you want to be! Never let ANYONE, or ANYTHING tell you different. You are what you think, and all you have to do is say and think the positive words you wish everyone else would tell you and tell yourself. I have a young son and I am always telling him how smart, handsome and powerful he is. I do the same for my daughter. I know the words I speak to them are powerful and I want them to have a positive image of self. For too long “black” males have been taught how our father created us was not what was considered beautiful. You are a unique individual and no one other person in the entire world is like you. You should be jumping for joy and screaming to the mountain tops singing how wonderful you are with just knowing that. So if anyone or anything has ever made you feel unworthy or less than great just know YOU ARE A STRONG & POWERFUL KING!!

If you need someone to talk to, please email me @savingtheyouth@hotmail.com and I would be happy to speak with you!!

P.S. The next time you have doubts about the power you possess look up these Strong, Courageous, Intelligent, Powerful Kings.  Medgar Evers,  Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, Malcolm X, Marcus Garvey, Booker T. Coleman, Dr. Umar Johnson, Nelson Mandela, Booker T. Washington, Huey P. Newton,Bobby Seale, Minister Louis Farrakhan

Youth Tip #3 Bullying

no bullying

Bullying seems like it has become an epidemic these days. I graduated high school in 2001. Not that long ago and from then until now it seems like this Bullying issue has become a trend amongst today’s youth. Back when I was in school we had “riding” sessions where we would talk mess about some one and crack jokes, but it never went to the extreme that we talked about a person so bad they wanted to kill themselves. There was nobody in my elementary, middle or high school who killed themselves over bullying. I even remember often times taken up for people who wouldn’t defend them selves. To me it doesn’t make you tough when you pick on someone scared of you, or somebody who will not fight back. To me this makes you a COWARD that you choose to prey on someone who is vulnerable. I talk to my kids all the time about Bullying just because it has become so relevant with today’s youth. They know not to let ANYONE touch them or continue to pick on them. They know they can come to me at any time, and let me know what’s going on. They also know if they go to their teacher and the situation is not handled when I come to the school there will be a problem. I know a lot of time teens are scared to go to their parents or feel as though they may not understand their situation. So they often try to deal with the situation them selves. Sometimes they feel like dealing with the situation is killing them selves. I want ALL of you youngsta’s out there to know YOUR LIFE IS VALUABLE, God gave you life and placed you on this Earth for a purpose. NEVER let somebody’s WORDS or ACTIONS dictate your life for you. People only have the power that you give them. I tell you one thing about a Bully, Stand up to them just one time and I guarantee they will leave you alone. Bullies are truly weak, insecure individuals who pick on people to make themselves feel better. If you are having an issue with a Bully and need someone to talk to. Please email me @savingtheyouth@hotmail.com. I would be happy to speak with you, encourage you and give you advise on how to handle the situation. Just know I am here!! I love you and God loves you!!

Just Say No to S.T.D.’s

I will be posting information on different types of Sexual Transmitted Diseases (STD’s) so that you are aware of the risk you have for catching these diseases, symptoms so you know if you may possibly have one of these diseases and ways to prevent you from catching these diseases. In the times we live in all the teens seem to be sexually active but there seems to be no sexual education being taught to the youth. So here can you find information that can help you if you are sexually active or thinking about becoming sexual active. “Girl Talk”

Hello Queen’s,

First, I just want to tell all the young ladee’s out there be proud of who you are!! We have been taught so many different things from society on what is considered to be beautiful, what is to be expected from a girl, how a girl should be treated, how a girl should carry herself. Well I question where does this information come from. So many people have opinions and it’s hard to know what is genuine.  From what I see no one has based what a girl is suppose to be from what GOD tells you. If we as young ladee’s put more focus on being a young ladee of GOD and not a young ladee of MAN; girl’s would be much more content with themselves because they would be confident in knowing anything GOD has made is beautiful in his sight.  People are always going to have opinions and talk so if you spend time trying to please people you can never be truly satisfied because sometimes people don’t even know what they want.  Be proud of the girl you are, the ladee you are becoming and the women you will grow into. I leave you with this poem of encouragement!!

You.Are.Amazing.

As. you. are.
Stronger than you know.
More beautiful than you think.
Worthier than you believe.
More loved than you can ever imagine.
Passionate about making a difference.
Fiery when protecting those you love.
Learning. Growing. Not alone.
Warm. Loving. Giving. Generous.
Quirky. Amazingly Sweet. Funny. Smart.
Flawed. Whole. Scared. Brave. Outgoing. Awesome. Kind.Special. & So many more wonderful things, so never forget that

Be Strong. Be Confident. Be You.

Youth Tip #1 Be Yourself

Youth Tip #1 (BE YOURSELF)

Despite what society has told you, you DO NOT have to follow the latest trend or try and keep up with the newest phone. Society has made the youth feel as though you are not cool or important if you don’t know what the newest reality t.v. show drama is or have the newest pair of Jordan’s. I just want to say that’s Bull$h*t..excuse my french but it is. Material things will never matter because they hold no value. Just imagine your entire house catching on fire and you lose everything. When reality hits certain things just do not matter. Money doesn’t even hold value in 2012 so a pair of shoes or a iphone surely holds no value. I’m here to tell you ALL  Never be afraid to be yourself. Nobody can be a better you than you! I was telling my daughter the other day nothing is new any more we recycle styles and keep in rotation the same old things. So try not to keep up, create your own style and have people try to keep up with you. If you need some advise on creating your own style or just need to talk email me at savingtheyouth@hotmail.com.
